Question
Bought van used.  Day 1, driver door won't unlock, in shop for 3 days, now it will almost unlock, not totally released when I pull the handle.  Heater fan will not work in rear of van.  Dealer said $800 to replace rear heater core, does it really have more than 1 heater core?  Brakes make weird scraping sound sometimes but dealer said he had them checked and nothing is wrong.  Any advice?

Answer
Lisa,

If it took them three days to get the door lock to work with the inside handle would make me go to another shop.  Yes, there is a heater core in the back and if it was looped with a length of hose would indicate the heater core back there needs to be replace.  Unless you need rear heat or live where it gets really cold just leave it.  Or, if you want to do it yourself you could get a heater core for a couple of hundred and a Haynes Manual to show how it is done.  The brakes could be simple as a pad replacement or shims needing to be added.
