Nissan Repair: Altima 1996, loose wires, headlight switch

Question
When the lights are on and I press the brake pedal, the passenger side break light goes out. The bulbs are ok because they both work properly when I try them with the lights off. My Dad fixed the same problem just over a year ago, but I don't know what he did. Two mechanics have both said take it to a dealership or get a new light fitting. I know it is fixable, I just don't know how. I didn't see any loose wires when I checked the bulbs.

Answer
Emma,

Replace the bulbs first.  There could be a short in the bulb.  If that does not do the trick check the socket to make sure it is in good order.  If the bulb, socket and wiring are good it is probably the headlight switch shorting inside and backfeeding current.  Now, that would be a replacement of the headlight switch.
