Nissan Repair: 2004 nissan sentra cluster replacement, speedometer shop, nissan sentra

Question
i have a 2004 sentra se/r spec v, i went to a yonker to get a new speedometer, just for the looks, the other one was working properly, i unplugged the harnesses from the original one (w/o disconnecting battery) and hooked the other one up, it was not recognized at all by the computer so i switch back to the original one, wasn't recognized by the computer either, do i need to say more???

Answer
Rafael,

Disconnect the battery first.  Then remove your speedometer cluster and set up the one you want.  Now, check the fuses to see if you have blown the instrument fuse taking the cluster out while it was connected to power.  If the fuse is ok and the cluster is working properly, except the odometer then you have a blown momory boad on the odometer circuit.  This is a seperate board and could be replaced or checked out be a speedometer shop with a scanner and programmed properly.
