Nissan Repair: 1994 Nissan Headlight Problems, low beams, high beams

Question
The highbeams on my Nissan blew out at exactly the same time, (bulbs actually looked like they were starting to melt) replaced the bulbs, flicked the high beams a couple of times and blew them again, also lost the low beams within the hour, put in the old bulbs, low beams are working, afraid to put in new bulbs, any help would be appreciated ( relays etc ?? )
Thanks in advance,
Ed

Answer
Ed,

The headlight switch probably needs to be replaced.  The turn signal, high beam, low bean and headlight switch are all on the same connector.  It is shorting out internally causing the lights to burn out.  I would change the switch.  Under $100 bucks at rockauto.com or you could try courtesynissan.com for a factory part.  The dealer is way expensive...
