Nissan Repair: 1996 Nissan Sentra Speed Sensor, vehicle speed sensor, haynes repair manual

Question
My niece has a 1996 Nissan Sentra and the speedometer intermediately stops working with no other problems.  I believe it’s the vehicle speed sensor?  I have a Haynes Repair Manual but it does not show the location of the speed sensor.  Do you believe it is the speed sensor, if so could you tell me where on the transmission I can find it?

Answer
Jerry,

Yes, the speed sensor is the problem and it is located on the transmission.  Front wheel drive so it is on the drivers side under the hood.  Look at the back of the transmission down from the firewall and you should see the connector.  If you purchase the new one you will know what it looks like.
