Nissan Repair: brakes, wheel balance, minimum thickness

Question
I have an 01 Frontier 2WD man. trans 156,000 miles I had front brakes done(not Nissan)sometimes front right clicks when brakes are applied, you said they make a spacer kit, would this problem make the truck pull to the left or do you think its the caliper? Also sometimes I get a shimmy when I apply the brakes, could this be wheel balance?

Answer
Rich,

You have several problems here.  The shimmy is the rotors being warped.  You will probably need new rotors since they are thin to begin with and if you turn them make sure they meet minimum thickness.  The shim kits keep the brakes from squealing.  The click you hear is the aftermarket pad not being as tight as the factory pads.  The pad slides back and forth.  There is no danger here but the noise is a pain.
