Nissan Repair: Nissan truck timing chain, oil gauge, nissan truck

Question
I have a 90 nissan pick-up with a 2.4 liter engine.  I installed a timing chain about six months ago.  I have noticed the past few weeks that is sounds like the chain is rattling again.  It is starting to sound as bad as the one that I took out.  I am 95% sure it is the timing chain making the noise.  It rattles at about 1500 to 2000 rpms. Once you get above or below these rpms you do not hear it anymore.  I was wondering if you had any ideas on this.  I thought maybe I got a defective tensioner or possibly my oil pressure is low. But it doesnt have an oil gauge just a light.  Thank you for you Time

Answer
Davey,

Did you replace the guides as well as the chain?  If not that could be the problem.  Also, if you are running thick oil over 5W30 weight you could be keeping oil from getting to the chain tensioner.  Otherwise, the oil gallery that feeds the chain tensioner could be plugged.
