Nissan Repair: ticking noise in my 350z, small block chevy, radiator hoses

Question
last night i put a braided dress up kit on my car when i change the radiator hoses i lost some fluid when i started the car up later to check for leaks it has a bad tick (if it was a small block chevy iwould think it was a lifter that kind of tick) i tried to narrow it down to a sid but it sounds like its coming from both sides also i changed my oil 2 weeks ago and went with moibil 1 full synthetic 10w-30 and now after i start the car the oil pressure runs between 90-120psi for about 10min then it drops to the normal range i was wondering if this was because it was synthetic oil

Answer
Chris,

The ticking is the injectors.  You can verify this by getting a screwdriver and placing the tip in the injector and the handle to your ear and listen to the tick and go from injector to injector.  You should find the noise is with each.  I would only run 5W30 Mobil 1 synthetic since the engine has really tight tolerances.  10W30 is too thick for the engine and that is why it is runnign high until it gets warm.  You actually loose horsepower by using the 10W30 since the oil pump has to work harder.  Keep an eye on the water level since it burps and usually takes three thermal-cycles to get all the air out of the system.  I have a 350Z and love it...  You ought to look at getting the grounding kit as it helps eliminate ground loops.  Also, bleed the brakes with Ford High Performance Brake Fluid.  It is DOT3 and has twice the boiling point of the factory fluid.  You can get it at the Ford Dealership.  But, you have to ask for it by name.  It is in a white bottle with a black label.  Most dealerships do not even know they have it and try to sell you the stuff in the blue label bottle.  It is not the same so get the Black Label.  Also, bleed the clutch and you will really be surprised to see how well it works.  Also, did the braided steel brake lines from Stillen.  And, cross drilled, slotted, rotors from Centric.
