Nissan Repair: High Idle, cant stress, cold weather

Question
I have a 95 Pathfinder. At idle, the engine revs from 1500-2000 RPMs. I have recently been doing some work on the vehicle, and just before I started having this problem, the engine had not been run for a week. A mechanic I know suggests that the high idle is stuck because of the cold weather and the engine not being run. Also, that this should take care of itself. It has been a couple weeks that the engine has been doing this. Is there something else I should check into? Or will the idle go back to normal on its own?

Answer
i wonder if this question has anything to do with winter.  ive noticed that my past few questions were because of idle/hesitation, etc...im having the problems myself.  i dont want to keep writing IAVC but i cant stress this enough. IdleAirControlValve will operate after your car has reached its warm up point and should essentially "kick down" the idle to its proper state.  you can use some intake cleaner (only intake cleaner, not carb cleaner) and spray into the vaccum hose that connects to your iacv. theres many write ups on this. it seems like your car is stuck in "warm up" stage and isnt recognizing your temperature.  another suggestion, check all the vaccum hoses around your intake.  when you did work on this, you may have loosened one or forgot to put it back on when you removed it. it could also be your ThrottlePositionSensor *tps* or a temperature sensor.  if those arent operating correctly your car wont return to normal idle after its reached its warm up temp.  if you have a check engine light on i would suggest pulling a code and see what that says.  good luck on this.  email me and let me know what you find.  xxp_sebby@yahoo.com
