Nissan Repair: 1997 nissan pickup 5 speed, throwout bearing, clutch pressure plate

Question
sir, when I depress the clutch with engine running there is a low pitch sqeal from the clutch area ,and the noise disapears after driving 3 or 4 miles . the noise comes back after the truck sets for a couple  of hours and than leaves again after driving a short distance. thanks for your input

Answer
Ken,

The throwout bearing is going out on your truck.  Unfortunately, it requires the removal of the transmission to get to it.  It costs about $50 bucks for a new one.  But, labor is going to be the high cost factor.  For me I would do the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing at the same time along with a new pilot bushing/bearing.  If you can live with the noise it will last quite a while like this.  I say this because it is intermittent.  And, what is happening is after it gets warm the noise goes away so it has just started to fail...
