Nissan Repair: trunk wont open, latch assembly, nissan products

A few weeks ago my trunk would not open using the key. Now it will not open using the trunk release lever. Is there anything I can do or should I take it to a mechanic? What type of shop would be the best place? Any help would be appreciated.

The latch is probably stuck since you say the lock failed first and then the release.  Access it through the back seat and release it using a screwdriver.  Then the mechanic will be able to diagnose if a actuator rod came off or the latch assembly needs to be adjusted or replaced.  Any shop that deals in Nissan products would do fine.  The dealer would be twice the price.
