Nissan Repair: Engine Deceleration, nissan maxima se, throttle position sensor

Question
1991 Nissan Maxima SE with manual transmission.  When speed exceeds 70 mph, engine suddenly decelerates about 10 mph before it can begin accellerating again.  No problem when driving less than around 70 mph

Answer
Michael,

Check the throttle position sensor.  If it has a bald spot on the sweep it will cause the drop.  You can get a Haynes manual and check the values using a volt ohm meter.  If it checks within range email me back and we'll look at other avenues.  But, that is the first on the list since it does it at a given speed.
