My airbag light is flashing on my 1996 nissan sentra. how can i turn off or reset it?

The consumer can't turn off the light due to liability conserns.  A shop that has a special scan tool for the airbag circuit or Nissan would be able to diagnose the problem.  It costs $100 bucks to get it read at the dealer.  Then, there is the cost of getting it repaired.  Usually, one or more airbag components fails to talk to the controller area network and that is what sets the light.  So, check out a speciality shop or go to your Nissan dealer.  Airbags are dangerous if you take them apart or mess with the circuit so get with a pro that knows their stuff.
