Nissan Repair: Nissan V6 engine swap, nissan d21, electrical sensors

Question
Hi,
im looking to replace the worn V6 engine in my 1992 Nissan D21 hardbody.
Can i replace my worn out stock Nissan VG30E motor with a Nissan Maxima VQ30 motor?
Someone told me the electrics are different.
Will it fit in and bolt staight up to the Automatic transmission?
What parts would be required?
Thanks for your help.

Answer
Adam,

The electrical sensors vary and that will make the job difficult getting everything to work with your computer.  The engine will bolt in but the harness and such is going to be interesting.  So, make not of all of your sensors and how they connect.  You will have to use some of your sensors off the old engine to make it work and depending on the year of the VQ30 engine you might be looking at some interesting interface to get the coils to fire.  If it were me I would stick to the same engine unless you have the time to work out the details on the harness and sensors...
