My daughters 94 nissan sentra with 94000 miles suddenly wont get past 1st gear(a/t) no problems before, fluid is OK, whats up?

Sounds like the governor is stuck and that means that the transmission has to come out.  Cottman has been good to me on several Nissan and Toyota cars.  Your choice depending on where you are located and if there is a good shop in your area.  Another option is a wrecking yard unit.
