Nissan Repair: 2001 nissan altima, nissan altima, speed bump

Question
When I turn left without stopping first I hear a low whining sound until the turn is completed. If I turn left from a dead stop, I do not hear this noise. The car drives fine, but when I go over a speed bump, I do hear some creaking from the left side of the front end. Your diagnosis?

Answer
Diane,

The left side and a low whining noise I would think the strut tower bearing.  The strut rotates on a bearing at the top when you turn and when you go over bumps you hear the creaking that would indicate a strut tower bearing.  Also, this is a common problem on the Altima and Maxima.  For some reason the left side goes out the most.  An easy and cheap repair.  However, they will probably have to do an alignment after they change it out.
