Nissan Repair: 91 Maxima sluggish, upper intake manifold, nissan maxima

Question
Hello,

Maybe you can help me.  I have a 1991 Nissan Maxima that I recently changed a fuel line on .  The leak was on the fuel rail so I had to remove the upper intake manifold in order to get to it.  I ordered new gaskets from the dealership and reinstalled the intake manifold with them once I replaced the line. I used the proper torque when I tightened it down as well. I had a couple of occurrences before the repair where I had engine misfire for about 15 minutes or so.  Anyhow as I put the car together after the repair I carefully replaced old vacuum lines since I had to take a few off anyway.  After getting it put together I expected a rough idle with there being some air in the fuel line.  It of course ran rough, and never came correct.  So looking through the wiring I noticed corrosion inside the fuel injector plugs.  I cleaned them up, no change.  I unplugged the MAF sensor, It immediately started running much better , but of course stalled since the sensor wasn't plugged in.  I plugged it back in, it started and ran just fine, but with a little vibration.  It now revs fine in neutral, but in gear the idle drops down (as it usually does) but not much power while in gear and very seldom goes above 2000 rpm while going down the road.  I've checked the EGR valve.  I push it up while running and the idle goes up(I was told it should stall).  I unplug the hose for the EGR valve and push the plunger up while holding my finger over the hose and it doesn't drop (so it seems fine).  There is plenty of suction in the intake and the blow by hose, so it doesn't seem like vacuum is a problem.  I feel like it would be a dumb idea to go and get plugs since the car revs fine in neutral.  Not sure what to do.  The nearest Nissan dealership is 30 miles away.  Let me know if you have any ideas.  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Jeff,

We need to have it scanned to tell us which sensor is giving you an issue. It is either a bad sensor or vacuum leak. Cottman transmission will do this for free and I think Aamco's are doing it free also. Get the code and resubmit and we'll get this fixed for you!
