Nissan Repair: driving belt, serpentine belt, nissan maxima

Question
i have a 1995 nissan maxima and a belt is broken. i wanted to know if it's the driving belt. the belt is located on the left side of the car near the coolant container. is it hard to repaired? and if it is the driving belt, can i drive the car to get it fix or should it not be moved?

Answer
HI Steph,

Depends on how close a garage is for you to drive it over for repairs. That Serpentine belt drives your water pump, alternator, power steering, air condition compressor and smog pump (if equipped). Your car will over heat if driven to long and also will kill the battery. Make sure where ever you take it to inspects all the pulls to find out why the belt broke.
