Nissan Repair: 1997 maxima hard start when cold, fuel pressure gauge, nissan maxima

Question
I have 1997 Nissan Maxima V6, it’s very hard start when cold, I have to open the throttle to start the car. Sometime even I open the throttle the car cannot be started, the spark plugs are flooded badly when this happen. I replaced all the spark plugs, it make a little improvement.

Answer
Steve,

You probably have some injectors that are stuck open.  If you do a leakdown test with a fuel pressure gauge you would know for sure.  If it were me I would use Lucas fuel treatment.  I am not an advocate for fuel treatments in Nissan cars since it tends to screw up componenets.  But, I have had luck with Lucas not melting any parts.  Then a full tank of premium and run the car on the freeway.  If this does not help do a complete tuneup and if you still have the problem you are prbably looking at a set of injectors.  I am into saving money so I like going to wrecking yards and purchasing a set off a wreck, cleaning them up, doing an ohms check to see if they are good and with new Orings install them in the car.  So, do it in the order described where you are using the cheapest to most expensive parts to diagnose and correct your cars problems.
