Nissan Repair: how to replace timing belt on 1991 300 zx nissan, timing belt, 300 zx nissan

Can you please instruct on how to make sure my timing belt is set right on my 1991 300 zx. when it was first installed .The car would not run right.I think the timing belt was not installed the correct way. thanks

Basically, you need to remove the inspection covers at the top of the timing belt on each head.  This way you can see the pointers on the cam gears.  Then, rotate the engine to top dead center and look at the top gears.  The marks should line up and if they do not you will have to take the front cover off to get to the tensioner and loosen it and move the cam gears to where everything lines up properly.
