Nissan Repair: alternator 1990 nissan 300zx, 1990 nissan 300zx, nissan 300zx

I've replaced the alternator & battery twice.  The alternator works for a while then shows failure and the battery goes dead.  We've checked it several times and replaced battery cables still same problem.  Help!

Use a different brand of alternator.  If you get several bad ones in a row you know that they are not rebuilt well.  I like the ones from Pep Boys since they seem to last much longer than others.  Also, after the alternator and battery have been replaced do a load check to see if something on the car is pulling a load on the system that is too much.  I have seen where the airconditioning relay is stuck closed and this pulls too many amps while the car is off.  Other things to check are the fuel pump relay and the like.
