Nissan Repair: No A/C, compressor clutch, fan works

Question
2000 Altima SE. No leaks in A/C System. A/C light comes on, fan works, however I get no A/C. I know A/C Systems are closed. Is it possibly electrical?

Answer
Dave,

If the fan works and the light comes on then I would say it is low on refrigerant.  Have the system pressure checked with a set of gauges.  You can open the hood and turnthe system on and off and see if the compressor clutch kicks in.  If it does not then you know you are low on refrigerant for sure.  Basically, as new as the car is the system could leak out enough refrigerant to keep the compressor from kicking in.  If you look at the hood there is a sticker that shows how much R-134 the system holds.
