Nissan Repair: antenna motor, antenna mast, grease

Question
I recently had to replace the antenna mast. We had to take the motor apart as the mast was being very difficult to remove. (Thinking something inside the motor was causing it not to come out.) When it was all put back together the motor will only run for about 1/2 second. It was fine before. Any ideas on what could have happened and how to resolve it? I really don't want to replace the motor as I don't think anything is wrong with it.

Answer
Lisa,

If the mast is binding the cutoff switch will stop it from running.  That is, if there is binding the motor will overload causing the switch to trip and the motor stops.  Take is back apart and look for binding and be sure to grease the assembly.  If this fails to work the motor is too weak and will have to be replaced.
