I just had the clutch replaced in my 1987 Nissan Stanza liftback last week. A few days ago, my speedometer stopped working (stuck on zero). Is this due to the clutch being replaced? Could this problem be easily fixed at a local repair shop, or should I make the hourlong drive to the original service shop (the dealer) to get this fixed?

Hi Liz,

Take it to a transmission shop such as Cottman transmission if there is one nearby. It is a simple fix and yes, it's likely due to the clutch replacement. There is a speed sensor or speed bullet that may not be connected on the transmission.
