Nissan Repair: 95 Nissian 200sx not starting, nissian 200sx, neutral safety switch

Question
My 95 200SX will not start, the battery has been replaced along with positive cable.  All dash lights come on when key is turned on but engine will not start, no sound from the starter or anything starter was replaced 6 mo ago.  It seems to be an intermittant problem as sometimes will start. I was thinking it might be neutral safety switch, tried your advice from another posting but no luck.  Car also has factory security system on it don't know if that may be the problem.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Chris,

Check the neutral safety swtich if the starter is new.  You can check if the starter works by hotwiring from the positive post to the small terminal on the starter.  If the starter turns then you know it is the neutral safety switch.  Now, you can attempt to get it started by holding down on the brake, you do not want the car to drive off.  And, turn the key to start while shifting through the gears.  If the contacts are going out it might just start a few more times before the switch needs to be replaced.
