Nissan Repair: transmission/overdrive problem?, strawberry milkshake, nissan 240sx

Question
1993 nissan 240sx  2.4, 95000 miles. I noticed the problem after I had some water hoses replaced along with the thermostat. Not sure if this had anything to do with my problem but everything was fine until then. Seems to be possibly a problem with transmission slipping? When speed is around 40mph and after it goes into overdrive, the car feels like its either hesitating, surging, or transmission is slipping. It has a jerking feeling every 2-3 seconds only after the engine has warmed up and after it is in overdrive. If I take the overdrive off it does not do it when running around 40mph. Please help, can't spend too much more money on this car. Joel

Answer
Hi Joel,

The jerking actually could be water on the engine that is causing a short and misfire. The higher RPMs "hide" the issue. Check all your plugwires and eletrical connections. Spray the connections to the coil and under the distributor cap with WD-40. This will displace the moisture. If you feel a "slipping" in the transmission, check your fluid level and condition. I don't know the reason for replacing the coolent lines, but check the transmission fluid condition for strawberry milkshake. Let me know what you find...
