Nissan Repair: Over heating, radiator cap, air pockets

Question
My car is NISSAN Serena with FB14 engine and it is automatic trnasmission. It gets over heated within 15Km drive. At the begining of the drive the heat indicator does not come to the middle possition. It takes a considerably longer time for that. Plus the cooling fan does not function well. Once the vehicle get heated i hear a sound of leaking air pressurized vapor from a hose. More over the radiator water level does not get reduced. But I saw leaking water from the foresaid hose. Please give me a proper solution for this. I'm in a big trouble.

Answer
Dinali,

I would think you have a couple of things here that could be bad.  If you want to do it yourself here are the steps I would take.

First, change the thermostat and radiator cap and make sure the system doees not ahve any leaks.  Refill with 50/50 mix of coolant and demineralized water.  Burp the system to make sure there are no trapped air pockets in the system.  This means that you drive the car at least three times to temperature and let it cool and then top off the system.  Make sure the radiator is clean on both the inside and the outside.

If this does not work then you have a bad headgasket or a cracked head.
