Nissan Repair: 94 Nissan pathfinder transmission, nissan pathfinder, diagnostic service

Question
Hi, my daughters pathfinder won't take off in D. It will take off in 1 or 2 and then she can shift into D manually and it goes ok. It seems almost like when she puts it in D, it tries to take off in 3rd or something. It has been doing this for about a year now. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Tap,

Well, honestly she needs to have her transmission overhauled. The way that drive acheives low in the transmission is different than what we call manual low or  manual second. When you shift to manual low it applies the first gear clutch directly and not through the forward clutch. I could go on for 10 pages but that would just bore the heck out of most people, so I suggest you take it to a Cottman Transmission and let them do their free diagnostic service for you. Let me know what they say before you have anyone remove the transmission. I will help guide you in the steps to take so you won't get burned.
