Nissan Repair: 98 Maxima driving noise....., courtesynissan, two wheels

I recently had my front two tires replaced and balanced, although when I drive at high speeds (approx 100kms) the steering shakes a little bit.  But the larger concern of mine is when I drive at any speed I hear a loud screeching the sounds like its coming from the front two wheels.  When I put the brakes on the sounds stops.  Im thinking that the brakes are rubbing but im not sure. Any ideas would help. thanks alot.

Yes, you guessed it right on the front pads making the noise.  The shake could be that the tie rod ends, inner or outer, are loose.  A couple of hundred bucks and an alognment.  On the pads, buy a new set from Nissan, courtesynissan.com is a cheap way to go, and a shim set and then turn the rotors and the noise should be gone.
