Nissan Repair: Pathfinder No Spark, spencerville ohio, moisture problem

Question
Today I come to you in need of help with my 1987 Pathfinder v 6.
2 door with 4wd. Automatic transmission.

I went down through all the Nissan questions already asked and found helpful info. on some other things I needed as well. There are only two things I question now.    This vehicle usually  runs fine then about a week ago I came to a stop and it died and will not start again. It was turning over easily but my battery has to be jumped noe to get it to turn over still no spark.  I cleaned as many conections and grounds as I could see. Replaced coil. I am not getting  visible spark from coil.   Any help would be awesome. I am in Spencerville ohio 45887 thanks for your time. By the way I am having the exact same problem with mt 89 Range Rover  with in 2 weeks of each other what do you make of that.

Answer
Chad,

If it is raining in your area and the distributor cap is getting moisture in it that could cause the problem on both vehicles.  With the 87 Pathfinder I would be looking at the distributor for oil getting on the optics too.  Probably only moisture in the cap for now but an 87 is ready for a rebuilt distributor.  To correct the moisture problem just spray WD40 in the cap and dry it out with a paper towel.  not too much WD40 as you only want enough to break up the moisture.
