Nissan Repair: 95 Nissan Pickup High Idle - Low idle/stalls in gear, throttle position sensor, air fuel mixture

Question
Hello Dinger,

I hope that you might be able to help.
I have a '95 Nissan Pickup Extcab 4 cyl with about 150K miles that my wife drives.

Whenever the engine is under load (in gear and then using the brake or turning the steering wheel or turning on the a/c etc) the engine will stall.

I have had to adjust the idle to an unbearable amount (just below F-14 jet engine RPM) just to keep the engine running while it is in drive.

I have replaced/checked vacuum hoses and throttle position sensor. No-joy.

Thank you in advance!

Answer
Hi Damon,

This is a sensor problem most likely. In the earlier cars, we could mess this air/fuel mixture, timing, stuff like that, but in today's cars all that has been placed in the hands of your onboard computer. I suggest having it scanned for DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes) so we will have a direction to go in. Cottman Transmissions will do this for free. Please resubmit to me this info and I will gladly give help getting this fixed!
