Nissan Repair: Placing a 1995 Nissan on Jack Stands, shade tree mechanic, nissan altima

Question
I am a budding shade tree mechanic and recently purchased a 2 1/2 ton jack with 2, 2 1/2 ton jack stands.  The vehicle I am working on is a 1995 Nissan Altima, 5 speed manual transmission.  My problem is, I am not sure where to place the jack under the car to lift it (i.e. don't know where the safe lifting point are under the vehicle). I assume (the most dangerous word in the English language)that the jack stands would be placed under the car's frame in the same locations the scissor jack is supposed to be placed when changing a flat tire. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Answer
Paul,

You are correct and if you get a Haynes Manual for your vehicle there is a great photograph of the underside of the vehicle that shows where the place the jackstands.  Now, you want to jack up the car at the jack points on the side of the car and then place the jackstand where the subframe is as close to the front as possible without getting into the radius area as not to allow the stand to slip.  Also, be sure to block the tires and set the brake so the car will not roll off.
