Nissan Repair: Factory Keyless Entry works only from inside car, keyless entry, body shop

Question
Hello, recently my 2006 Sentra Special Edition was just in the body shop because my neighbor drove the drivers door with her car. The keyless remote now only works from within the car. At first the remotes weren't responding at all, so I reprogrammed them c/o of a previous post here. Now it works only about six inches from the dash. My guess is the antenna serving the remote is damaged or disconnected. I am not sure exactly where to start looking at, and I'm afraid to have to take it back to the body shop to have it fixed.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
jp

Answer
Jordan,

You have the problem at hand.  Yes, the antenna is damaged or disconnected.  It is located on the driver's side and connects into the body control module.  Just a long length of wire.  I would take it back to the body shop and let them know or you could tear the dash and trim a part and correct the problem yourself.  You could get the insurance company involved to turn up the heat if the body shop does not respond.
