Nissan Repair: nissan altima 86 main battery fuse, nissan altima, courteous attention


Question
My main battery fuse got burned.
I replaced the battery to a new one cause i noticed that it didn't have any water in it.

i have 2 questions:

1. do i also need to replace the alternator?
2. where can i find this fuse 75 amp i have looked and couldn't find it yet.

please advise of any other thing i need to know here.

You probably do not need to change the alternator.  You will probably have to go to the dealer for the fuse if the local parts store does not have one.  Once the battery is in and the fuse is replaced have the system checked and if the voltage output is over 14.2 volts replace the alternator.  If it is within range 13 to 14.2 volts the alternator is fine and the battery just expired.  If you like going around turns fast the acid leaks out the top and if it is over three years old the acid could have just evaporated.
