Nissan Repair: 98 maxima rear window cable, rear window, hard time

my neighbors window wouldnt go up or down, i noticed the cable was binding in the plastic tract on the regulator, i am having a hard time getting it back on. does it have to thread on a certain way?

This is going to require another regulator to correct the problem.  Now, you can take the regulator out and get the cable back on track by taking the motor loose and then get everything back in alignment.  Then reinstall and run the window up and leave it until you get another regulator.  The cable and regulator is pretty hard to correct and for about $200 dollars you can get a new one.
