Nissan Repair: engine modify, nissan pulsar, brand cars

Question
Hello
I am Robert from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. I am doing a information tech course and doing a project with using e-mail as a tool for research. My question is how to modify a 92 Nissan pulsar 1.5L engine bay to fit a 1.8L engine in from a early model Nissan pulsar?

Thank you for your time

Answer
Robert,

To do the swap you will need the old car to swap parts from.  This is especially true of Japanese brand cars since they have many changes over a production run let alone a few years of difference between them.

Note the location of all the sensors on your car and make sure they can be used with the older engine.  If you are going carbureted it will be an interesting swap.  I would keep the fuel injection if available.

The important thing is to match up all the mount locations and then get the engine installed.  Now, hook all the accessories and cables, linkages and wiring.  But, you are going to need to do a modification on the exhaust to get the pip to fit the manifold from the swapped engine.  If you go to a wrecking yard they can give you definates on the swap as they have an interchange book.
