Nissan Repair: ac on 2000 nissan pathfinder, auto temp, nissan pathfinder

Question
the controls appear to work, but the ac and heater both do not work.  The auto temp control adjusts fan speed, but the actual fan doesn't run.  It doesn't appear when you turn on the ac that the compressor is kicking in.  Before it quite completely it intermittengly would work.

Answer
Chris,

First check the system pressure to see that the refrigerant has not leaked out.  Second, check the blower motor fuse to see that it is good and then you can check the blower motor itself to see that it works by hotwiring it to 12 volts.  Also, check to make sure the blower resistor is is working order.  This is under the dash on the passenger side and on the blower box.  Now, if the blower works when hotwired then the climate computer is defective.
