Nissan Repair: 1997 Nissan XE pickup, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum line

Question
Hello, my nissan truck starts fine cold and runs well until it heats up. when the truck does heat up it will start missing and running badly to the point of dying. Once it dies it will not crank again until I have let it cool for several minutes.  The battery and alternator are fine and I have changed the distributor, rotor and sparks plugs. After inspection of the sparkplugs, they were all black and smelled of gas.  Could this be a sensor failure? thanks

Answer
Chase,

Check the fuel pressure regulator to see if it is defective.  You see, when the engine is cold it requires more gas than when it is at operating temperature.  Also, is the check engine light on?  Email me back with your findings.  The pressure should go up when the vacuum line is disconnected from the regulator and when it is hooked up it should go down about 12 pounds.
