Nissan Repair: 94 Nissan Altima..., nissan altima, battery terminal

Question
No I haven't changed the distributor, just the cap and rotor. So unless the converter has melted it wouldn't be clogged right? I understand its hard to keep track. This was the original question..."1994 Nissan altima...starts, idles rough (well now it just jumps a little, not massive but a little), sounds loud (which I just found that the muffler was split), sputters, when you accelerate there is no power. It literally goes 2mph. I've changed the spark plugs, and the battery terminal, because it was cracked. Neither has worked. Do you have any idea what it would be and how I could check? I don't really have the money at this point to take it to someone to rip apart and tell me what all I need to replace, its sickening heh. Holidays you know. Anyway thanks in advance." I'll have to wait on the distributor I think...It'll cost me probably around $150 heh...alright thanks so much.

Answer
Kenneth,

Change the distributor first.  Then, if the raw fuel has caused the converter to overheat and it has partially melted causing an obstruction then change it.  But, first change the distributor.  Now, I have never done it but you could change the seal in the bottom and get some tuner cleaner and attampt to clean yours.  This does sound like a distributor so there you have it.
