Nissan Repair: Idle problem, throttle position sensor, mass airflow sensor

Question
My 2000 maxima has 125,000 miles. It has been great. Problem, it starts fine but after a few minutes 2 to 4, the idle speed drops to zero and it dies.  It will restart and run fine as long as I keep it running at 800rpm or higher with the gas pedal. Can ou help?   Thank you    Ernie

Answer
Ernie,

I would check for codes first.  Are there any?  If not I would check for a vacuum leak that is allowing air to enter past the mass airflow sensor.  It sounds like the car runs fine while it is in choke mode.  After it warms up there is no idle.  Other areas to check are the throttle to see that the stop has not lost it;s adjustment and the throttle position sensor that it is not going out.
