Nissan Repair: 2000 Maxima Coils, performance problem, valve cover

Question
I have recently taken my 2000 Maxima to a dealer to check my performance problem. After the car has ran awhile, it starts cutting out badly. The dealer said that the "iginition coil" is out. This is about $850. After looking at some of the posted questions, it appears this is a common problem for my vehicle.

If I have this repaired, is it a reoccuring problem? Any advice?

Answer
Ray,

No, the new coils solve the problem.  Buy the coils and do it yourself.  The cost of coils is about $350 bucks.  It just takes a set of metric allen wrenches to get the front plastic cover off the valve cover and you have access to the coils.  You will need a ten millimeter socket and extension and swivel.  The back ones are more involved but nothing has to come off.
