Nissan Repair: 2000 Nissan Quest Mini Van Heater, heater hoses, nissan truck

Question
I think i didn't make myself clear in what information I wanted. I can get to the blower motor and I did remove it and there was no nest or mouse in it. I think they may be in the housing that covers the heater core. I think this because i have a Nissan truck that had the same problem and thats where the nest was. I need to know how to take the the parts around the glove box off so i can get to the core housing. I removed the glove box its self and four screws around it but the compartment surrounding the box still doesn't want to come loose. Are there more screws hidden that have to come off or do i just pull harder to loosen it. Thanks for your help.------------------------

General,

Basically, you are going to have to take things apart until you get them out.  Whatevere you do make sure not to kill them while they are inside the dash as they will rot and that would be very bad.

I would start by taking the cowl cover off in front of the windshield and go from there.  The other path to get them out is taking the blower motor off.  If they are down inside the dash the dash will have to come out to get the ducts out for cleaning.  I would not think they could get that far since the blower motor cage would be hard to get by.

Answer
There are bolts on the firewall and the heater hoses and the airconditioner hoses that come through the firewall.  Remember that you van is not like the truck where the airconditioner is an option.  This van has the thing installed as an assembly.  Now, if you are careful, you could split the case.  This is where you take the screws off the parting line and remove the bottom of the case.  and then remove the lower part of the case.  But, to do this you will have to take all the bolts loose and the bracket at the center that holds the assembly up and then let the case hang by the hoses being careful not to blow a hose and remove all the lower screws as described above and then remove the lower part of the box and you should be able to get to the nest.  The other option is to depressurize the airconditioner and remove the lines along with the heater hoses and remove the entire blower box as an assembly.  If you do this there is a good chance that the rest of the dash will have to come loose to get the blower box out.  And, that would require the steering column to be dropped to allow the dash to come out enough to get the blower box out.  It is a day long process if you have to take everything out since the blower box goes in before the dash goes in the van.
