Nissan Repair: how to remove fuel pump from 1997 nissan altima, nissan altima, incandescent bulbs

I need to know how to remove the fuel pump from a 1997 nissan altima. I initially tried to take off the gas tank but was told to go through the trunk. Ive gotten to the fuel pump but now I need to know how to remove it? thanks..

I thought the fuel pump could be accessed through the floor under the back seat.  If you remove the lower part of the back seat and there is no access panel then the tank has to come off.  I forget what year they made access this way.  I did an 86 recently that I had to drop the tank and there were four bolts that had to come off along with the hoses and the fill neck hose and the fuel lines and the connector just to get the thing down.  Interesting job and be sure that you drain the tank and get the gas away from the scene and do not use any incandescent bulbs or smoke around the action as you do not want a fire.  Also, be sure to have someone with a fire extinguisher as a fire watcher.  Lastly, support the car with a good set of jack stands.
