Nissan Repair: speedometer, maxiam, pencil eraser

I have a 1992 maxiam that the speedometer does not work. No cable electtonic type. How do you check were the problem is. Have replaced the component on the transaxle.

If yours in the digital dash or regular I would first remove the instrument cluster and take the cluster apart and then clean the connections with a new number two pencil eraser and then put it all back together and see if that does the trick.  If not, I would go to the wrecking yard and source another one.  The cost to get the cluster fixed is quite expensive if you send it out to an electronics shop.  So, I am cheap and the cleaning and the wrecking yard are the best alternatives.
