Nissan Repair: 1998 Nissan Maxima Turning signal, nissan maxima, nissan products

Question
My turning signals on my 1998 Nissan Maxima GXE keep stopping as the fuse blows out.  I have taken my car to a master mechanic as well as the Nissan dealership and they keep replacing the fuse. Signals work for a day or so and then I hear a clicking sound by dashboard. In a short time the fuse blows and the directionals (all) stop working). I'm at the point of giving up; any advice that you can give would be appreciated.
Thanks

Answer
Larry,

Replace the turn indicator combination switch on the column.  There is a contact that is worn beyond limits and it is not overheating the circuit until a few days into the new fuse.  That is where I would start.  You have to remember that this switch runs all sorts of things from the headlights to the turn signal indicators and the high beam lights too.  It is a busy switch and when something moves as much as it does it is bound to fail eventually.  I have replaced several of these over the years on many Nissan products.  They are a great switch but they do have their limits.
