Nissan Repair: Starter, nissan maxima, bullet proof

Question
I have a 1999 Nissan Maxima that won't start. The inhibitor relay is good and the solenoid clicks when power is applied. My question, before I pull the starter, is if the anti theft device could be the problem and if so how do I  reset it.

Thank you for any info that you can provide.

Answer
Steve,

If your key is not working try the other one.  I bet the starter is gone due to the year.  I have replaced many of these and have never had the key screw up.  On Chevrolets with the pellet in the key it is a common problem.  But, yours is pretty much bullet proof so I am thinking starter.  Now, you did shift the car between gears when you turn the key didn't you?  If the safety interlock is worn out it will not let the car start.  Basically, turn the key to start and then shift from park to D1 and see if it starts.  If it does the interlock is bad and needs to be replaced.  If not replace the starter.
