Nissan Repair: ELECTRICAL, nissan altima, fuel gauge

Question
I HAVE A 1993 NISSAN/ALTIMA, MY CAR GOES DEAD WHILE DRIVING. WHY DOES THE CAR JUST STOP RUNNING. IT WILL START BACK UP AND CUT OFF AGAIN. IT RUNS GOOD WHEN IT IS RUNNING, THEN IT DIES OUT.THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED. STILL IT DIES WHILE RUNNING. WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR.THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING HOT. NO INTERIOR LIGHTS OR/DASH LIGHTS/TROUBLELIGHTS ARE ON. THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT MOVE EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS RUNNING FOR ABOUT A FOUR TO FIVE HOURS. ALSO MY SUNROOF CONTROLS QUIT WORKING AND THERE IS A SHORT IN THE RADIO(IT HAPPEN A WHILE AGO), THE SPEEDOMETER(RECENTLY) QUIT WORKING. I KEEP UP WITH MY OIL CHANGES, RECENTLY HAD A TUNE UP AT FIRESTONE. THE REASON HAD A TUNEUP BECAUSE THE CAR WAS DYING OUT. BUT THE TUNE UP DID NOT ELEVIATE THE PROBLEM. WHICH IS WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW. WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. WHY IS IT DIEING OUT.

Answer
Phyllis,

It could be a corrosion problem at the battery where the fues holder is or the positive cable feed that runs to the ignition switch.  Basically, your car is cutting out while it is driving but will start back up.  So, the distributor could be going out as well.  Have someone check the output on the distributor and see if it dies out while they are probing the output signal.  The fuses and cables should be checked too.  Loos or corroded electrical usually causes what you have as well as the distributor.
