Nissan Repair: 1995 Nissan Maxiam GLE, nissan maxiam, servo controller

Question
Two weeks after having the engine replaced on my 1995 Maxima GLE, the automatic transmission refuses to shift out of first gear, not allowing me to go more than 20mph.  The car currently has a milage of 180K miles.  Do you think the transmission could possibly need to be replaced?  If it does need to be replaced, what would the range for a job like that be?

The transmission servo controller is mounted under the car on the transmission and my bet is it has come unplugged.  Get under the car on the drivers side at the front and look at a major plug in and you should find the problem.  I cannot see that the transmission would go out so soon after an engine replacement.  So my bet is it is with the connections and or wiring.
