Nissan Repair: Brake light, nissan quest xe, nissan quest

My brake light is lit on my dashboard of my 1996 Nissan Quest XE. What does this mean?

Did you check the parking brake to see if it is out of tolerance.  That is, if the stop is out of adjustment and the light is not going out.  If that is not the cause then you have a brake system problem that has caused unequal pressure in your brake system.  Or, you are low on fluid.  The brake system has a float in the master cylinder and that can cause the light to come on too.  Check all of these and email me back if you have problems.
