Nissan Repair: nissan sentra dashboard lights, nissan sentra, dashboard lights

I have a nissan sentra 91', the lights on the dashboard, and stereo dims out when you turn on the lights at night. Its so dim that you can barely see the dashbord and  radio station you are listening to. What seem to be the problem?

First check the dimmer control and see if it has any effect on the circuit.  Because, it is either the dimmer switch or the headlight switch.  I would start with the dimmer switch first since it is much less expensive than the headlight switch.
